Clock and neutral light stopped.

The bike will start with the stand down in neutral so I guess that rules out the sensor. I have ordered a tube of electrical grease. When that arrives I will unplug the connector and clean the terminal out and then reconnect it. It has to be something simple for this to have happened at the same time. I have rechecked the fuses and they all look good.
No one has stated the obvious yet, do you have a bell hanging under your bike? If not, then you have gremlins pure and simple. Get the bell and your troubles will be over... Gremlin Bells - Home Don't thank me now, I'm just doing my part...

I have taken the clock off and the problem is still there. I spoke to the triumph dealer yesterday and he don'r have a clue either so he said bring it in. The trouible with that is aits 40 miles away and with no speedo it's taking a chance with the plod. I am going to replace the fuses tonight and see if that does anything.

Have you swapped the fuses yet & has it done any good? With the clock removed & fault still there then I can only assume the problem is with damage done by the clock, cant think of anything but fuses.

Where does the clock plug into... Or where did you splice it into? I would strip the wiring tape back in that area and look for melted or frayed wires. When I rewired the whole bike into the frame tubes I found a lot of under gauge wires and bad crimps from triumph.

By the way who can tell me how many feet of wire is on a standard R3?

I bought the fuses lunchtime and will try them tonight.

Rockethead.. There is a terminal under the tank especially for the clock to plug into. I've had a good look at the wiring around the terminal with a torch and can't see anything wrong or out of place.

probably fuse #8 or fuse#3. if you have a 12volt test light you can turn on the key ground the test light and touch the probe end to each side of the fuse. with the key and kill switch on, the test light should light up on each side of the fuse, if it only lights on one side fuse is bad.
if the fuse is blown the clock is probably bad. might have something bouncing around in it.
it is possible to check the clock connector but lets leave that for later.

I swapped over all of the fuses last night and finally found the culprit. It was a 10amp fuse but looking at it I still can’t see that it’s blown. I have re fitted the clock and it is running very fast, at least 30seconds fast per minute. This may be the reason that it blew a fuse, so I will send the clock back and ask for another one.

And no need for the gremlin bells either.

Thanks for all of your help with this. Looking forward to taking the beast out on the weekend.
