Cleaning kit.......

I was up my local shop a few weeks ago, a chap was buying cleaning kit, ......loads of the stuff……

as i remember

1) some spray stuff too get salt off
2) something too put in ya washing water
3) chrome polish
4) polish for the paint
5) something to put on to protect the polish you’ve just put on the chrome & paint
6) on and on and on……..

he didn’t get a lot of change out of £50 for this lot…. :shock: .

I use a bucket with some bubbles, rinse with hose, shammy leather off……wash n go

......What do you chaps do…… :? .
 
Wash/wax shampoo , chrome polish , paint polish 1st coat and 2nd coat , stuff for the seat etc :lol: Takes a while if I do it proper and am in the mood .
 
Cheap supermarket wash-n-wax, rinse off with water and mer polish, shammy dry takes about 45 mins max.


I use dishwasher powder for the stubborn grease/tar then thoroughly clean after because of the salt in it.
 
I have always used a electric leaf blower to blow off the excess water. It helps to get the water from all the engine nooks and crannies.

Les – no need to clean in your case, but I would recommend some sort of dry-rot treatment…… :twisted:
 
I know auto body repair shops use Ivory dish wash liquid as a wax and grease remover.

I bought one of the Mr. Clean car wash kits that have the water purifier built in. It utilizes the same priciple as a dishwasher, not leaving any water spots because of the lack of surface tension of the water droplets, as well as removing all the minerals from the water, thus eliminating all the mineral deposits/film that remains even after chamoising. I haven't used it yet, but others on this forum have. The write-ups I've seen are quite positive, even the non-profit consumer reports

Not good! it removes any polish / wax from the bike, you should use a good car wash wax, that way it keeps a coating on the paintwork.
And a good quality car polish once or twice a year :wink:

They use the dish liquid at body shops because it helps to remove any silicone based products and wax polish that can cause them nightmares during painting.

I did that once, but then my speedo and tach went out for a while 'til the water finally dried out. :x Won't do that again. 8)
