Checking oil level

The oil will drain to the sump over time (varies from bike to bike). You will have to check it just after turning engine off, it should be ok. If your oil light is on when engine is running switch off straight away and see a tech.

1 half inch on dipstick.

Welcome to the forum. My 05 has always had oil above the low mark on the dipstick cold. You may have a problem.

Thanks to all who responded -- and for the welcome! I did manage to check the oil after about one minute of idling and it came up halfway between the two lines on the dipstick. Not so nervous about it now. :lol:
