On several occasions a potential buyer or new owner will ask the mpg question about the Rocket III. Well I finally was able to do a significant distance and remembered to check mine. Keep in mind I was on a road trip so no crazy driving and weather conditions were good. Also, my bike is still stock. No alterations other than a couple of accessories. I did two fill-ups. First one I got 40.28mpg. Second one I got 40.45mpg. The first time my light came on was at approx 172 miles. I drove approx another 8 miles for fuel. It only took 4.498 gallons, so I could have easily gotten over 200 miles on a tank of gas.

I did a 327 mile trip due to sad circumstances. A friend of Bear's called us on Saturday reporting that another friend's wife had committed suicide. Terrible situation. Viewing and Funeral is Wednesday and Thursday so if we hadn't already bailed on the RAA trip this would have put a change in plans for the trip.

I feel for you guys that might be caught in the rain. But as we all know the Rockets handle rain very good. In fact I would rather drive it in the rain than my Xterra. That darn thing hydroplanes bad. I hope you all have a blast on this trip and stay safe.

She rides like a very fast girl! Her's is just all stock, and she doesn't push a big windscreen around like yours.. :)

I'm debating on putting on my Roadster screen or not. I will probably do without and just regret it later.. As I usually do.. Some people never learn

good idea

tex,
i would go ahead and put the road shield on.. you can pack the fly screen and install it when you get to e.s. birds, hail, big rain, truck tire debris, and such....... doesn't feel very good when it hits. sure helps with fatigue also. then again, you probably know all this so i'll shut up...

Thanks Dave for standing up for me.

I was running between 70 and 80 mph. Mostly 70 to 75. On the way home I was following the Bear Man so was mostly running 70. I was running in unfamiliar territory and knew it being a holiday weekend the cars with the little light-up bubble machines would be troaling for speeders:eek: and drunks.

And Dave is right about riding like a very fast girl. In fact a few days ago Bear was telling me he is fixing to have to get me and my bike out of the impound yard if I don't slow it down.:D
Also with me being shorter than the normal Captain I get away with a shorter wind screen.

Sorry to hear of your loss and it seems to be the time of year for such. Our neighbors were involved in a terrible boating accident. And RS your stature would be comparable to a jockey more so than us big bellyied big butted big mouths. Speaking of my own accord naturally.;)

Just Kidding, Y'all

Wifie and I just got back from a 150 mile round trip. Mostly highway and rural 2 lanes. 2 up averaged 38.5 mpg at an average of 80 mph. I thought that was pretty good....

Snuffy, Don't worry I knew you were kidding.

Thank you guys for your sympathies. They think some new medicine she was on caused the suicide. But waiting on autopsy stuff and all as of yesterday morning when we left there. Bear is driving back up tomorrow. But think I am staying here to take care of critters and such. I had never met her. I just knew him cause we all went on couple of scooter trips together. Bear knew him for years.

And it is funny that Baggage mentions a jockey cause the first time I rode a Rocket III I felt like a little jockey on a big horse......but I got of that :D:rolleyes:
