Anybody done a ceramic coating on the exhaust asystem. Toying with the idea of coating mine black. It is meant to dissapate the heat better, and I am trying to get away from chrome. As I was told today, " chrome won't get you home, but looks good on the side of the road".
Is it tough, wont scratch etc, how does it last.

Any thoughts lads

Ill tell you in about a month my headers being done at the mo and exhaust is coming ceramic coated :)

Did it for the colour more than any performance benefits.

I did not ceramic coat not seing the benefit bu had my jardine exhaust dechromed and powdercoated flat black like you I am not into chrome. so far 5 months the coating is good some scratches from usage you know boots sole with gravel that kind of thing .

Powder Monkey, who is coating yours, Bill at JCS gave me a card for CIC at Kelmscott in Perth. I just want to make sure that the coating lasts.

Duke, I would assume that powder coating wouldnt last as well, easier to get stone chips etc.

I've had two sets of pipes ceramic coated, but not for the Rocket. My experience is that the finish will show surface scratches and swirls from rough towels, etc. and this is especially noticeable on the glossier finishes. You can get a satin finish that is more tolerant, but it will look dull compared to the other black finishes on your bike.

It's a good product if the shop does a good job of surface prep before the coating is applied. You definitely get what you pay for, so be wary of an overly cheap estimate on the work. This is who does my powder coating and ceramic coating...

there are some pictures under the "Toys and testimonials" that show the ceramic coated pipes on my Warrior....good luck.

Thanks JR, I was concerned that they would show scratches and marks. I will be in Perth in couple of weeks so might go see them then.

Powder Monkey post a couple of pics when you have them done.

cheers
