Caved in, added some storage, a hard tail bag

Yeah, if you need something big without much modification, here was my "study" of the situation with a dedicated motorcycle bag:
That may be awesome to use for a light tour. I'm in southern CA and was thinking totake the bike to Vegas or Palm Springs.
It looks like a saddleman. I don't have a rack or pillion backrest. Do you weave the straps under the seat?

From what you said about the rack's weight limit, I'd be wary of putting it on therack, but as a backrest, it'd be perfect!

I didn't actively use the bag, the whole thing was just a study, a photoshoot to see how it would go, to discover all the options I had. I have another bagger motorcycle, so I don't really use Rocket when I need to haul stuff.

But I'd strap to the shown bag to the rear of G model's backrest. Maybe I would have put one strap under the seat to keep it tight. Guess, depends how heavy.

Well, I'll show how it is w/ the Nelson Rigg bag. It's not an elegant solution, but it is one which does not require any sort of mechanical aptitude. It can easily hold my shoes and lunch and I can squeeze my macbook over that if I don't have a case.
It's secure but a bit of a pain placing the Underseat attachment. I had hoped to place both of attachment straps under the pillion seat, but could not get the seat to lock down, so I had to settle for one under thepillion and the other a bit more foreward.
The way it is now, I can fit my leg over but ideally I'd have it scooted back a few more inches.

Because straps with male/female buckles are all attached to the bag it is a bit of a pain taking it on and off the bike as you have to feed the straps through the D-links attachments each time so likely I'll use it for lunch and shoes and leave the bag on the bike. I can carry my macbook and keyboard in a sling bag.

I have a Nelson Rigg tail bag. Might be a little bigger than the one you have. Nelson-Rigg Route 1 Weekender Tail Bag - Parts Giant I took off the passenger seat and bolted on a sheet of aluminum for the bag to sit on. A couple of holes, and re used the rubber bumpers from the pass. seat
