Can a Rocket III take down the establishment, and rule this island

Yyyyeaahhhh I had a think on it, and decided I'm gonna stick to my guns, get the bike fully ready - practice launching - time my quarters with Dragy and be sure I'm in a good place before revealing myself (lol)

So I ventured as far as 7000rpm for the first time since the build (using only 52% throttle though), and checking back camera after, found the bike was starting to shoot flames at 6500-7000rpm.
An amber cone shaped jet engine type flame.
And then big flashy blue ones when shifting :)

I agree with your decision, I'd have everything race ready before going to the track. Do they only have drags once a year, that's a real bummer. I guess we take having multiple drag strips available weekly for granted. Some have tracks available three - four time a week.

Yeap that's it, drag racing isn't as popular around this part of the world unfortunately. More into circuit racing.
Ah well at least I have time to practise.
Wonder if I can put together some kind of countdown traffic light thingy to practice timing the launch against.
Though the race here is won on shortest ET as far as I know, just everyone wants to be seen to be first across the line.

Over here some of the well funded teams have timing simulators to practice against, pretty sure you could assemble the timer and parts to make something work, and you could make it as elaborate as you wanted.

Thats a great idea. You'd think that there'd be a few practice light setups out there but u can't find anything other than desk ornaments.
Could indeed fabricate a system, but that's another project consuming time and I'm already short on that (which is why I am where I am). So was hoping one could simply buy a set.

Doesn't need to be a proper setup, just a 3 2 1 go type light set would do, since they use a sportsman light here.

Found one, nice and cheap 😬😬

Unfortunately it's not like several years ago where it was postponed due to heavy rain.
This year was postponed due to the road surface being in worse condition after the roadworks crew went at it to resurface it....

So that's not something that's going to be resolved any time soon I'm afraid.
Best hope would be an alternative location gets identified.

From the club's page;

Cancellation of West Cork Motorcycle Club Drag Race – 24 May 2026

The West Cork Motorcycle Club regrets to announce the cancellation of the Drag Race event scheduled to take place on 24 May 2026.

This decision has been made due to circumstances beyond the Club’s control. Following recent maintenance works carried out on the road surface at the race location, a detailed inspection by Club officials identified inconsistencies across the track which render it unsuitable for competitive racing.

The Club submitted a road closure application to the relevant authorities 7 weeks in advance of the planned event date and were not made aware at that time of any works that would impact the race. Although the Club has engaged with the appropriate bodies to request corrective action, it will not be possible to complete the necessary remedial works and undertake the required track inspection in accordance with MCUI regulations ahead of the scheduled date.

This decision has not been taken lightly. However, the safety of competitors, members, officials, volunteers, and spectators remains the Club’s highest priority.

The Club is currently exploring the possibility of rescheduling the event and will communicate further updates to all stakeholders at the earliest opportunity.

The West Cork Motorcycle Club appreciates the understanding and continued support of all participants, partners, and the wider community. The Club committee requests patience as next steps are finalised; all relevant authorities, competitors, and sponsors will be contacted in due course.

Ends
