Cam chain tensioner check

If you do pull the center bolt and spring out, do not turn the bike over or rock it back and forth until you put the bolt back in. Myself I would not try to force it to the next tooth but its your call. You need to measure the drop of the plunger to see if its gone past 16 mm if so then there is a spacer you add to return the spring tension to original tension. Since yours is a 2013 I suspect the drop has not gone to far. How many miles are on it? I must ask is the rattle on the left of the engine or the right ?(as you sit on it)
I have an 07 R3 Classic that I bought about 1 1/2 - 2 months ago with 11,900 miles. It has a very loud whine when running even at cruising speed. and when starting cold or hot it surges up to 1800 rpm then in about 5-8 seconds drops to about 800 rpm. Would this whine be from chain/adjuster? Would starting surge be programing? Thank you in advance for any info you could give.

I would reflash the ecu with the appropriate tune and do a full ISCV reset.and make sure the tune has the idle rpms set up say to 900 . There was a early recall reflash on them which was to correct the idle problems. after you get this sorted if the whine your hearing is still there I would lean towards the Torsional damper bearing ? Unless it has had the updated bearing already installed in it.
