Calling L&D today ...

Remember last year when I was complaining about the valve cover gasket suddenly splitting and leaking all over? I've had this tiny little "wet" spot on the left rear of the block that shows up out of nowhere just once in awhile ever since. It's definitely oil, just a teeny tiny spot of it ... if you washed the bike once a month you would never even notice it was there.

Well, it's there ... and it's buggin' me. I'm going to call them today and see what they say about it. Should we take bets on the outcome? LOL

The bike will be 3 years old this July with 17,000 miles.

Probably the head gasket.
I had my 08 standard fixed under warranty. for this very problem.
It's a known issue, I think it's a recall.

BTW, that Darkside of yours looks alot bigger than 225/55.
I saw the spec on the sticker in your pics, but ****!
Burn her up!

That was my reaction when I saw it on the porch, but it fits perfectly and is actually just a hair wider than the Metz. I think it's that ridge it has on the sidewall near the bead that makes it appear so big.
Just a few days since it was installed and I hardly notice it, the BFG even rides much nicer than that old tire ... much softer and corners like glue.
Grinding pegs and I still can't get closer than 3/4in from the edge ... wonder when the sidewalls will begin to wear :p lol.

Nice!
Keep posting your experience with tire pressure, sidewall wear (if any), etc.
I am very interested in that tire.

You have a standard with pegs, not running boards, correct?

I'm not getting any real cooperation over the phone with L&D, I asked that I bring it in and wait while they determine the leak. Since they NEVER have parts in stock that makes sense to me and I'll just bring it back when the parts come in. W E L L ... no, they want it dropped off so they can diagnose it ($), take it apart ($), order parts ($) and fix it ($).

Screw that, I'll get a little bottle of dye and diagnose it myself. Then when I know exactly what it is I'll call Brian at Triumph to complain.

I'm convinced that anytime you can take the dealer out of the loop you are better off warranty wise. This is ridiculous the way service depts treat customers ... I NEVER did crap like that when I was writing service. I just don't think this kid they have running the joint was ever properly trained on how to communicate to customers and manufacturers.
Very disappointing. I wish I lived closer to Manyunk Triumph, I hear they are much better.

Went in to PepBoys to get some dye and just happened upon the manager. They "don't sell" the dye but the service dept uses it. He was nice enough to just give me a little bottle of the stuff, what a great guy.
He was curious how I knew about the stuff and I told him a little service dept history and that I had applied for a job there online. He said they are always looking for experience and wanted my name to look up my application. Evidently the reason I haven't heard back on my application is that they enacted a hiring freeze 3 weeks ago but said it wouldn't last long, they need techs, advisers and managers. Cool, maybe I can get a job! ;)
Probably pays next to nothing and part-time is all I could get at first with no benefits, but it's a foot in the door.

I'll let this dye flow around awhile and then hit it with a black light, I sure hope it's not a head-gasket. I'm almost positive it's a teeny tiny little seep from the valve cover or just some residual oil caught in a low spot from the massive leak it had last fall. All the riding I've done today and there isn't any wet spot yet since I cleaned the dab off yesterday.
Fingers crossed X.
