Brake hose damaged

I was at a repair shop today, and they could not find something available which would fit in place of the broken rear line. The problem is the non-standard hose fitting (square shaped) to which the ABS line is connected. See picture.

Nat67, how in the world do they connect a braided hose to that alu pipe? Does Hel supply its hose with the same square-shaped fitting at the end? Or can the metal pipe be directly connected to the new braided hose through another type of a fitting?

Yes the direct replacement brake lines , be they Hel , Goodridge or Venhil come with the correct fittings for the application . They do away with the small section of steel pipe . One end will have the standard banjo which fits the calibre and the other end will have the straight swaged union . All that is required to fit them is a spanner and new sealing washers . The washers usually come with the new hose .

Just to be clear: is the other (swaged union) end connected to the ABS unit directly, or still through the metal pipe but just without the square fitting?

Hey Mavreg , took a trip to Hels head office today . The new Hel lines do without the square bit on the end and use a straight swaged connector to the hard line coming out of the ABS unit , they can no longer supply a single rear line unless I walk into the shop with a broken oem line and then they will custom build one . Weird policy I know !
However , they do have a couple of original braided rear lines from a Rocket roadster that they have been using as patterns , the photo is of that particular line with the square end as yours is I believe ? They don't as a rule sell the patterns but , as they have 2 WILL sell one to me for £30 BP . The line is brand new .
If you wanna go this route pm me with the exact length of your line from the banjo to the square end and if it matches in length , which it should , then I will buy it and we can figure a way of getting it to you .
