...Pretty bummed out, but it could have been worse. My first and hopefully last speeding ticket. I thought I had all the unmarked cops in my mental inventory (We don't have many highways and thus I tend to twist the wick on a particular roadway) but somehow this afternoon managed to go by a white unmarked SUV doing 90 MPH...he was not impressed-well not entirely unimpressed.

He started by asking me a lot about the Roadster-how big is the engine, how many cylinders, ect. He actually said "I bet its hard to stay out of trouble with this motorcycle" He was so pleasant and impressed with the Rocket I thought I would get off with the proverbial "warning" but no luck...he did cut me a small break by reducing the speed infraction ten miles per hour, which brought the fine down to $160.00 USD and also instead of 6 points on my license it is only 4.

I don't mind the fine, and I guess the points will eventually go away, but I haven't gone the speed limit since I bought the **** thing! I am very accustomed to flying by the cages, and now...:(

Fortunately you had not imbibed any Ardbeg!!!
Count yourself lucky for all those you got away with.
Was this REALLY your first speed pinch?

Practice your awareness and avoidance skills in order to minimize a repeat performance, Sir!

Oh, and congrats upon losing your cherry.:p;)

I feel your pain man. Tickets really suck. :banghead: Take my money ... I hate the points. I've been blessed by God. I've had a few close calls by being stopped and released or having the blues flashed at me. Last ticket was in 1994. Hope to keep it that way forever.

I had a close one the other day entering the Frwy. I chose to accelerate past a tractor-trailer already in the #3 lane using the right hand acceleration lane rather than pull behind and eating his kicked up road debris by being meek. When rolling off I spied a CHP Crown Vic in the #1 lane thanks to my recently installed 3.75" "spot" mirror(s) pacing me. I acted like I didn't know he was there and just adjusted the 'cruise' to 65mph and innocuously watched until he lost interest. If not for that $2.99 mirror I could have easily missed his practiced and purposeful placement and earned a velocity award a hundred times more costly.

We have a little known loop hole here in Tassie and if you get a speeding ticket you pay say a $1 more than the fine by cheque all is good they take the money and issue with a refund cheque, you just toss it in the draw with all the others and untill the transaction is closed and it won't untill you cash the refund, they don't take any points of you so you end up with a draw full of un cashed $1 cheques and all your points :D not my draw though :whitstling: no really.

Now that's really cool!

Thanks Gentlemen for your replies and kind words...I am not going to report this for a while to my riding mates...they are mostly hoggers and have been giving me the old "One of these days" your gonna get caught routine for the last 2 years and I know that if i fess up I will be razzed mercilessly. No Ardbeg on this trip...I was on my best behavior in that regard mainly due to it being the noon hour and I was running an errand from work. But now I am totally paranoid....guess that will wear off after a while...recon I better figure out this point thing-am I meant to shovel a bunch of elderly folks driveways this winter (oh wait, I am elderly!) or do I attend some class whereby they show me those cool violent drivers ed films from the '50's?

Enjoying a wee dram of the water of life right now!

I hear you, Bill.
My last pinch was in 1968. :D
