Fellow Captains, it is with sincere embarrassment that I now post my ill conceived idea finding the cure to cold weather fogging of the visor. At the DC bike show last month, I saw a vender selling Blaze Anti Fog, I saw the presentation using a steam mist on a treated visor and then on sunglasses and low and behold, no fogging. I didn’t buy it then because I forgot to go back as I walked around the show. Then, I saw the same folks with the same setup at the Timonium show and specifically asked if it works in cold weather down to zero degrees’ he said it did so I bought the product. Then I applied it to my visor and took it for an early morning test. Much to my chagrin, it failed. Not only did it fail to keep the fog off, but it was worse than before I applied it. I had to ride to work with the visor partially up so that the fog would stay off. Temperature was 17F this morning and I admit that riding with the visor up was a tad chili, even for me.
I went to their website to declare my disappointment and guess what; it doesn’t exist. I get Go Daddy instead. A quick internet search of Blaze Anti Fog gets me several other reports similar to what I have discovered. I will write both shows and let them know about this vendor and hopefully no one else will get taken in.
In the mean time, I will go back to using toothpaste like I have done for decades on my swim goggles…

I have emailed both shows with this information, I'll let you guys know if they respond.

My Nolan has a flip down sun shield so I just stick with the clear pinlock. Haven't tried any other since this is my first pinlock compatible helmet.

Thanks, td.!

My newer and preferred helmet, a Bell Star is not compatible with the system, but I really haven't run into a fogging problem with it.

My Arai Vector is compatible, however the system is quite pricey for it and Arai has several features that virtually eliminate fogging as it is.

I've only used the Blaze as a cleaner, haven't tried it yet as an anti-fog. I bought mine at MotoGP, but they had 2 booths at last week's Seattle IMS.

Interesting comment on the Vector, Phil. I swear mine fogs at any temp below 65. I've tried various vent openings to no avail, it's really bad. My Bell RS1 is much, much better.

Have any of you tried the Pinlock system at night? I've heard there are issues with headlight glare.

Pinlock have recently released a photochromatic shield which varies automatically from clear to smoke... good idea so as not to have to carry two visors - you can't use a tinted visor, with even a clear Pinlock, at night.

S'pose it might be possible to get some distortion of oncoming headlights at night, as you have two thicknesses of materials that you are looking thru. Haven't heard any complaints tho...????

Like double-glazing on windows, I suppose.

I have a photo chromatic shield for my Bell also. It works great during sunny daylight hours, but I find I have to carry an extra shield on trips anyway because it's really bad in the rain because it stays too dark.

I had a Nolan with pinlock...might not be as bad on a cruiser but riding my 675 the top edge was in my "view" and so I took it out & still had scratches at that line...so then i needed another outer shield...& i never thought it was very good in damp/wet as water got in between....
