Bike won't start . . .need ideas please

Are you having it towed to a dealership? Or to a motel where you can spend more time sorting it out? Do you have a volt meter. Just asking for further testing if your not having it taken to a shop.

The shop is full and can't take anymore until next Tuesday, so the plan is to tow it to a short-term bike storage specialist that charges $20 a night (very reasonable in SF).

I am still puzzled by what went wrong with the bike, (there were some threads here mentioned similar situation.) so here is the saga:

1. The whole thing started with me leaving the bike's parking light on. (shoot the idiot!)
2. returned to the bike 4 hrs. later, battery still had power, but low. self-test, gauge, headlight will turn on.
3. tried to start the bike, hoping that it would work. no luck.
4. remove the seat to see if the battery contact was loose, no, put the seat back.
5. tried to start the bike again. now bike was completely dead. no self-test gauge won't move, headlight, engine light won't turn on.
(I keep going back to the moment that I push the seat back down... did I disconnect something??)
6. Called roadside assistance, but NO TOWING for motorcycles! (but has towing for cars, how unfair) as it was late.
7. Checking connections and Fuses, all "seemed" fine.
8. Guy came with a battery pack, connect to the + - ports, turn the key, still nothing.
9. was battery shorted?-> remove the battery and connect the cables directly to the battery pack. -> no luck.
10. Guy said "wtf is this cable?" It was the OBD..., we were convinced that it must be why the bike is getting no power....
11. He got another call and said, call me back when you get the cable sorted, or you will need to wait for the motorcycle tow tomorrow morning (this was about the time I posted the picture)
12. Realized it is the OBD, not connect to anything, so I went through everything again.
13. Cop came, said it's dangerous, my phone's dead, nice enough to call me a cab, went home with the battery in my back pack.
14. the battery tested 9.96V, not shorted, not completely dead.

Something amiss with the key ignition switch? There is no other alarm or third party kill switch installed. Why isn't the bike getting ANY power at all even from a full battery pack (no self-test, gauge won't move, no headlight, engine light...)? I searched for the forum for it but did not find anything useful. I found two other cases, but the bikes were disassembled.)

I do not have the tools and nor do I know how to test the key ignition switch properly. So that's that. now go shoot the idiot who left the parking light on.

Brought a new battery to the bike, with a good set of tools.

Connected the new battery... Still nothing.

So I lifted up the tank, key ignition is on, wiggled the cables one by one under the tank and check the connections. Suddenly. Bbbbp, I have lights again!

I might have caused the cable connection fried up a bit?

But mystery solved! I will be looking to upgrade those EB kit then!

Thanks for all the suggestions!
