Rocket 3R LIMITED EDITION
hi all,
I am looking for an opinion about installing bigger headers on 2.5 rockets, there are two options available right now.
- TTS Performance headers
- Carpenter racing headers

I am wondering if putting big headers will give more HP or not? Assuming that rocket would need a dyno retune once new headers are installed.

Have a look at this video

I know they might not look great right now, but I'm only interested in opinions about how well they perform/HP gain etc, not how they look.

Imo the stock exhaust is 30% the design of this motorcycle.
But I would advise going with carpenter. Get a tune and go with as much internal tomfoolery as you can. The exhaust is the least bang for your buck unless you do a lot of other things.
You would be surprised at how little just an exhaust and a tune will do.

the headers/exhausts including those on the TFC is made by Arrow. they are very good even with a cat. I doubt you will find any significant increase in HP alone with different headers.

that said I would love to hear and see the improvements figures. best wishes on your project mate.

they are definitely a gain or professional builders wouldn’t have them. They test them and know the benefits.

new pipes only worker better if you significantly modify the engine - by themselves little gains will be achieved without hurting the engine overtime.
same with aftermarket systems, little gains without fiddling with fuelling, electronics etc
you'll get a lot more gains by changing the throttle maps. no other mods unless you want HUGE power, then charger/turbo, big bore etc will do

Look at Richard Albans’s video in post #6. At the end he says that the biggest restriction in the exhaust is the stock headers.

Can't make more power without being able to get it out, and after changing exhaust a trip to a good dyno man is necessary, he will adjust fuel and timing required.

To me just looking at the pictures, I feel the Carpender header would flow better with less obstructions, the way the pipes blend together.
