Bevel Box removal

Seems to be the easy bit. Wheels were off for new tyres so as per recommendations here I removed the bevel box to 'grease the splines'. So I did that, but am having trouble putting the bevel box back on. The actual shaft drops to the bottom of the shaft tube and I can't get the bevel drive in. Any tips from those that have done this before?

I put the bevel box on the shaft (which the wheel fitted) and give it a giggle and a little rotate before the bolts locate it

Glad I'm not the only one! I like the ice cube solution but I'll have go and report back.
 
Dude go in with and whenyou contct the shaft rotate the box whilst lifting theshaft upshe will findthe spline and slide in.
 
I always use the string trick with great success. Now you could do it like warp said but keep in mind he has done this a 1000 times so he has had a lot of practice.

I used this method last weekend and it worked great, reduced swearing to a minimum
