After reading posts on here about Ignition switch problems and voltage drops to the headlamp I decided the 1st mod I was going to make to my 2008 R3T single headlamp model, was the H4 relay.
The headlamp reminded me of my 1977 Bonneville Price of Darkness days, so I wanted to fit a brighter bulb as well, without turning my wiring into toaster elements.
After the order was placed from Beaver (got to love that name) it took about a week to get here.
This is the first time I have pulled my 'new' bike apart, so much was a learning curve.
So, remove seat. Disconnect Battery (as you will need to do this anyway later). Lift the tank, the best feature I have ever come across on a motorcycle. Remove windshield. Pop out the headlamp ring and loosen one of the yoke covers.
The fitment is so easy it really needs no explanation. If you cant figure it out, then you really have no business pulling your bike apart without supervision. But to route the wire back and install literally took 5 minutes. And that included cable ties.
I put in a new headlamp bulb as well but once I had everything re-assembled it was hunnee doo time, so I will test this weekend and report back if I see any improvement.
In any case, I feel better knowing that my glow worm at the front now has direct voltage.

The EB relay kit and new bulb will help, but if you really want good lighting you need to change out the reflector/lens assembly. The stock optics are terrable. For less than $50 you can get a good glass unit which will make a big improvement. I got 1 from Candlepowerinc.com.

Ditto regarding the reflector/lens mod.
Pervious to my recent addition of the LED DayMakers, installed euro headlamp - no bulb. Actually helped quite a lot.

They are No Daymaker; but, definitely better than stock.

Bull, did the Daymakers show marked improvement over your stock equipment?

All I have done so far is light them off in the garage. Both my brother and I, have compared the stock lights to the EB cut out and then later to the Susquehanna MotorSports Euro headlamps.
These Daymakers ARE WAY BRIGHTER.
Next month I intend to start getting back into the saddle and shall learn more and report.
I intend to do some technical measurements of several motors with different light combos to establish the actual patterns for true comparison purposes.
Just a matter of finding the time with my associate as it is a tad involved and requires use of a Total Station Transit and high quality light meter.
