Battery

I bought one of those yellow POS!
Lasted one month!
NEVER again Motobatt!

I must clarify: the cooked battery was 2 yr's ago & I was given an immediate refund. I now have another one arrived this week as my Yuasa is cooked after lying up in France for 4 weeks. Now here I'm in need of more help. The bike was ridden to a car park in France from where the breakdown truck collected it, 4 weeks later it arrived home with a completely flat battery 0.00V flat, & it won't take a charge, hence the new Motobatt which I believe to be in good condition. I fitted it today & pleased to see the instrument cluster fully working & the sweep ok, however, press the start button & not even a click of a relay, absolutely nothing at all. I have thought to check the kill switch isn't on & im lost is to what to look at. And still have the broken Detent spring to fix

Chris the old battery is knackered, 0.00V won't even light the inst cluster & will not take a charge, optima the shows "FAULT", hence this new Motobatt which seems ok but the bike won't start, not a glimmer of a click absolutely nothing. I'm out of ideas, any advice. I did check drainage current about 12 months ago 23ma, things running are clock alarm & tracker. Not relevant right now as battery just been fitted.

If it were me after such a LONG lay up especially in France (yes I'm biased) - I'd unplug and check/clean all connections and fuses - and use ACF-50 grease (or similar). AND CHECK ALL THE RUDDY CUT OUT SWITCHES (stand/clutch etc) - I HATE THEM. Then find a good annotated copy of the wiring diagram and start tracing with a good multimeter.

PS the gauges wont sweep if the Kill switch is off - not on mine anyway.

And yet I have 2 running fine.
Anything purchased sight unseen is a risk.
And shippers are NOT careful with merchandise.

My future battery purchases shall be completed in person and NOT over the WWW!

Whacked in a Motobatt MBTX20U from the WWW today. Fully charged spun the beastie over beaut. Mixed reports so I will report in when it expires. Testing starts Saturday with a fang into town - 100km one way.
