battery observations

I'm still trying to wrap my head around why my '02 Modified Cooper S still has the original battery and starts without fail. Eight years and 100,000 miles on a battery only twice the size of a bike battery. NEVER had one last this long. Knock on wood (watch it crap out tuesday). ;)
Batteries are like pets and kids ... sometimes you get a good one.

Someone said they shaved off some cooling fins and dropped it in ... not something I would do myself ... but what ever gets the job done.

Hellfire,
not that bad an idea really,
when you think about it,
how much good do the fins do anyway where its positioned,
especially if you just trimmed them at the bottom where it'd be in the tray anyway.
short answer,
none.
Good idea, wish I'd have thought of that.

I only had to shave the bottom part, less than one inch.
Seemed a better idea that the old standby 'get a bigger hammer'.
I am in the minority.

When you're only off by an RCH easy does it, or so I was taught.
'RCH' is a Naval term we used in camera repair. It stands for 'Red (female private area) Hair. Mighty fine.
