Battery life

Was just curious about battery life, I have a 07 seems like my battery after it sets a week or two it seems to get poorly. but if you ride it every day or two seems to be okay believe I might be pushing my luck, just hate to spend a $100.00 for that small battery until I absolutely have to. I know I'm tight

I know what you mean a lot of my friends have them on their Harleys. I have a 6 amp charger if it gets to low I just pull out the extension cord and connected it up. Where I store it in my shop I do not have electricity wired in yet , I guess I need to put that as one of my electrical projects wire that side of the building. It does seem like they would hold a charge better than that my lawnmower does but that battery only cost $29.

Are you sure you do not have a slow drain\draw somewhere in the harness.

I'm sure you are familiar with this old story, but after mine wouldn't start in the cold the very first fall I replaced it with the Odyssey PC625 and did the tray modification. Later on I bought the matching Odyssey charger and have never had another issue with it.
I hear there are even better batteries available now (since 2008) but am still using my good old Odyssey. Those little lead/acid batteries they come with are for lawn mowers and mopeds, this beast really needs a car battery.

Jess if you are still using the original equipment battery I'm envious ... you got alot of use out of that sucker.

I started having the same issues with my 08, I bought a tender and it helped, but I finally just sprung for a new battery last month, I figured better to be safe than sorry.

I had the same trouble in cold weather, I would put the charger on about an hour before I was going to start bike but it is the original battery I guess I have been lucky hellfire

My 05 the battery went to 11.7 volts and push the button and nothing dealer told me that if it falls below 11.8 volts there is no way it will start
As for push starting i tried it dont work ended up pushing it a mile and a half home neadless to say i was not happy but my dealers service manager came and pi ked it up personally and returned it the next day with a new battery so it worked out in the end i guess
Fleet farm sells battery tenders for 20 bucks and thats what i use on all my bikes over winter

I gave the tender a shot just prior to putting in the Odyssey, It did a good job and all but these bikes don't start well when really cold. I couldn't depend on it to start on a cold morning at work, seemed it needed just a couple more revolutions than the battery could give.

I have the battery tender on the generator right now waiting for the storm (it has the original Triumph battery in it now). Had a message on the answering machine from the power company warning of outages that could last weeks ... I don't think I have enough gasoline for weeks. LOL
May end up siphoning gas from the cars, bike, and lawn mower before this BS is over. (I almost wish it would flatten the house ... naw, not really)

Any of you guys have a helicopter handy just in case? Might need a ride on Monday. LOL
