Good tip, Ray.
What is a good number for our Rockets?

Geez, I feel like a piker with the CCA's your talking Steve. I'm happy with anything over 260. That gel turned out to have 200 and wasn't cutting it. Put it in in Great Falls, got back to Wyoming and almost made it to Astoria. Blessed little NAPA in Clatskanie

Be sure and check the cold crank amps. I bought one of those super spiffy gel cells that were super light and did everything but the breakfast dishes. They never mentioned the CC amps... Turned out it was barely enough to crank the R3 on a warm sunny day.
Buy one of the 24 cell Ballistic lithium batteries 720 cranking amps if you want killer power

Have you done the battery cables to #4 mod yet?

WOW! I see this at Revzilla.
Wonder if it would fit - concerned about the 7" length dim.
The lithium batteries also last twice as long as the lead acid and you could use 2 of those blasters for 1440 cranking amps WOW

My battery let me down this morning. First day this winter that I couldn't ride to work. Temperature was 17F; last year the OEM battery would fail at 12F. I have not done the negative lead upgrade but today I did order this: Search Batteries
This is the Optima equivalent for a motorcycle battery at 310 CCA. For tonight, I put the charger on the battery and a drop light under the cover. Hopefully this will keep everything warm enough to start in the morning. Weather guessers tell me it will be 12F when I head out. The new battery should be here in a few days.

WHY don't you buy one of those 720 CCA batteries and be done with the problem forever and it will last twice as long ?
