Autotune Unresolved Issue

Power Commander V plus Auto Tune

Has anyone run into any trouble on 2010-2012 Rocket III Roadsters regarding the PAIR Valve mentioned in the Auto Tune directions? It states that if you do not remove or disable this "clean air supply" between the airbox and the exhaust ports, the AFR Readings from the Auto Tune will be Skewed.
 

I have never heard of this.....can you describe this valve? I did remove all the "plumbing" of my airbox when I installed my 5 KN filters. Once I did this, I blocked off the hole going into the airbox from the engine side to keep my new beer box free of possible debris.
 

I have never heard of this.... are still talking about Rockets... this is the first I have heard of this since the 80's when Honda was using an air injection system to clean up their emissions in their cars

There are several GOOD reasons to commit trims every so often.

1) The PCV will actually pretty much ignore the AT map until it's run a while (60 seconds iirc) - so this COULD affect starting. I noticed this difference before the first commit. This actually has a good side - I noticed that when COLD the bike wanted more fuel at about 2000rpm and 15% throttle so I upped that cell in the non AT map. When it's warm it's fine on the AT map.
2) The PCV has a +/- 20% trim setting (this iirc can be altered). If you need more than 20% - the only way is to commit and let it start trimming again. I have one cell that was reduced by 36%. After two committals - the A/T is now trimming purely for minor atmospheric changes. One or 2 cells maybe with 1->2% - and they vary month to month.
3) The Wide Band sensor CAN/WILL degrade over time. If you commit the trims and ever have a real issue with the O2 sensor - Then you could at least have a decent map to run on whilst you source a new sensor.
4) the less the AT actually has to trim the faster it will.

It stands for "Pulsed Air Injection Reaction" and was used by many auto manufacturers (including Honda). It uses exhaust pulses to scavenge fresh air into the exhaust system to help keep the cat temperature up. I don't know how triumph controls it, but it sure could throw a wrench in the works if its allowed to function in closed loop under load!!

I know this is semi-unrelated, but my 08 touring came with a evap canister and about 20 feet of related plumbing that I ripped out and disposed of. I have seen a couple other 07-08 Rockets that had no evap system (located behind LH side cover). My bike was originally sold in Mass and conformed to Calif emissions.....is it possible this PAIR on the newer bikes is another Calif emissions gimmick???
Note: I only eliminated the evap system to make room for my horns,,,,which I feel are MUCH more important than capturing a few hydrocarbons
 

yeah I'm guessing if it is on some then it would probally a California thing, also if the bike was fitted with some thing like this there would have to be some plumbing on the exhaust or exhaust side of head wouldn't there?
 
I do not have a PAIR valve on my bike. My Honda ST1300 did. I have the CA evap canister. It should be noted, the evap canister does not take away HP or performance. The canister only holds fuel vapors when the bike is shut down. Taking the system off does nothing for performance. If your state ever goes to smoging bikes, you will have to reinstall all of the system. That could be costly!
 
What does commit the trims mean and how does it affect the operation of the PCV & A/T.

Also how can I tell if the A/T is actually working.
