Does anyone have an opinion on the quality and reliability of Avon grips with their interchangeable throttle cams. Has anyone had the throttle cams break out like I have heard some of the Triumph stock throttle grips do. It seems like carrying a small extra throttle cam would be an easy carry along fix if one of them ever did tear out. Personally, after reading some posts, I am inclined to think the breakage problem is due "in part" to the heavy throttle return springs and/or using excess pressure when cranking full throttle or using excess pressure on a hard return to the home throttle position. I think people could be doing this without even realizing it. It seems most of the complaints are with the heated grips.

The Avon grips are extraordinarily comfortable. Unfortunately, I can't use them, because they don't have a metal fitting at the end which will accept my bar end helmet locks - which I use virtually every day. If this isn't an issue for you, I recommend them highly.

Well Bull, I've wrapped up my full-time law practice and now do only project work, classifying myself as "semi-retired". Frankly, it hasn't been an easy transition, since I've been working, one job or another, since age 12. But I'm beginning to make the adjustment.

Also. the travel product that I invented is finally coming to market (after nearly 5 years of development). It's going to be rolled out at CES and I've been involved with that as well. www.pluggenie.com

All of these changes haven't left much time for playing here - but I'll be slowly coming back.

Thanks for asking.

Love my Avon grips (I have the golf balls shaped grips and the smooth almost factory like grips) and have had zero issue out of them. However, I like to change grips like a lady changes shoes so I'll be swapping them out soon to try something else - probably of theres!

Anyway, look for them on the classifieds over the next few days or send me a PM.

Good on ya! Took me almost a year to adjust to retiring from the main job and by then my "semi-retirement" consulting went crazy.
Good luck on that Plug Genie.
