Another big welcome from New Jersey. I have the exact same bike, year, color, and lack of abs.
Watch that rear brake in a panic stop it will lock up on you!
Good luck, I have only had one minor issue in a little over year and 4500 miles.
Soon you will want to do some mods, I have done a few small adds and I like the bike even more.

Winter sucks can't wait till some warmer weather.

Yup Jag....I hear you on the rear brake. I haven't locked a rear brake up on a bike in years, even without ABS, but I did manage to do it once with this puppy. No big deal, but I was surprised it happened. The rear tire didn't seem to have a lot of bite and for all the bikes weight it seemed kind of lite in the rear. As for some mods, I've been busy with that...a taller windshield from cee bailey, touring seat with a back rest, aux power jack and even a custom fairing from Corbin. Still working on the fairing and the wind dynamics. I've been doing a lot of custom work on it to try get it right. Corbin makes a good looking product, but it needs some serious improvement to get it to function correctly. As for the looks, very sharp! I feel your winter pain! Also...I'm new to doing any kind of a forum. Hope this posts ok.

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone! As for TriumPhil....I'm glad you liked the handle. I gave it some thought and felt it was appropriate and explained why I bought the Rocket. Truth be told...I had my heart set on a new Harley Street Glide, but I just couldn't get past the ride compared to my 09 softail.

Since I couldn't get the test ride of the Rocket out of my head...I just had to have one.

G'day Jag ,I am curious do the 2013 R3T have the ABS deleted ,if so I wonder why, my 2011 R3T has ABS it is the first bike I have had with ABS and now use my rear brake more frequently than I have ever done before.I haven't had to use it in anger but have tried a crash stop from 110kph on a quiet section of wet bitumen ,fantastic I would not hesitate to do panic stop in the dry or wet now no lock up!

No problem with the post coming thru loud and clear.
The mods I did are the inexpensive type, new tune (30 hp and 10 lbs tourqe ) for 24.00 dollars, new grips, and D&D slip on exhaust. It make the bike run so much better and now I can tell it's running at 80mph but to loud.

I might do a little bigger windshield, but that would be it for cosmetics for me.

The thing with the rear brake is that these bikes have so much get up and go, it's very easy to forget that we have to bring all of that rapidly accelerated mass to a stop and a safe one, at that. If you haven't had much or any experience with a Beast such as our Rockets are Honestly, there's really not much out there that compares), it is vitally important to learn about and to become intimately familiar with the limits of her performance envelope both with her propensity to run and how she handles when allowed to, but even more importantly with regard to her ability to be controlled or corralled to a safe stop.

Mashing on the front brake causes a very sudden, stark and some might say, surprising weight transfer that all goes immediately to the front end of the bike, hence the feeling of lightness in the rear, which is all to real. The rear brakes on this motorcycle are large and aggressive monster Brembos, so if they are not applied properly, they will get you to puckering rather instantaneously.


It is well worth the time, patience and diligence for any Rocket Captain to become very well acquainted with our 800 pound dance partners. Practice, practice, practice and if necessary, find a safe and lonely parking lot or a private, controlled roadway to put your Rocket through its paces. Doing so will maximize your mastery over your two-wheeled domain and minimize your having an unexpected or surprise rude awakening, a heart-in-mouth experience or worse.
