Hey wow, this thread came back to life but I missed it!

As I have said many times to new Rocket owners.

Well said! It will not be forgotten. I've hung the broken Triumph tank emblem on my shelf that has my riding gear so I can be reminded each time I go out to not ever be so careless again.

...the ride is so smooth, the speed isn't noticable.

This is what really gets me. This Rocket doesn't really "feel" much more powerful or quicker than my other bikes but all you have to do is watch the speedometer. In the same tame it takes to go 70mph on my Warrior I'm at 100mph on this Rocket. Doesn't feel that much faster but it most certainly is and drastically reduces available reaction time.

Me too! Still don't have it all back together yet. Just too much other stuff going on. I'm bummed I haven't been able to ride it this summer but it'll happen eventually.

My first near surprise on the R3 just after I bought it was on a sweeping on ramp to a highway. I was cleaning up on an HD and as I got to the middle of the turn over 70 mph the thing is moving towards the guard rail and I'm going turn you mother. Fortunately I leaned on it and didn't crash. Lesson learned. Watch out for big mo (momentum).

ABS was a great addition.

you could also have tapped the rear brake only, it helps tightening the line inside the turn try it next time it could also be a bike saver

You're right. I will insist on cash in hand when I go to sell any bike now. You just never know what's going to happen and so many people don't do the right thing. I always try to. Before I left for the test ride I actually told the guy, "Don't worry, if I wreck it I'll buy it but that's not gonna happen". Guess I must have jinxed myself.
