There was a lot of discussion when I first joined about the claimed 6.9 gallon capacity. I never managed to get more than 5 gallons in, today, in city traffic first, and then racing to beat a thunderstorm, I pushed it way beyond 0 miles range showing left, it started to run out 1/2 mile from the gas station (and shelter). I just managed to keep it running long enough to coast up to the pump dead empty, it took, to the very tippy-top of the tank, 5.8 gallons. I can sort of understand someone making a conversion mistake, but I can't believe triumph didn't figure out the mistake and correct it, I think they are still publishing 6.9.

What ever it is, not big enough, ( looks big enough to hold 10 gallons) don't care about mpg but be nice to drive more than 150 miles between fill ups!

I always thought that the R3T had a 6.0 US gallon tank whereas the Roadster/Standard/Classic had a 6.6 US gallon tank. Your post is the first that I've ever seen stating 6.9 gallons.

The Triumph web site says 5.9 US gallons.

Think my Roadster is 6.2 gal US.
Most I have put in is 5.9 and that was 50 miles beyond the "0".
I would think the Touring SHOULD be larger?!?

I just looked at the specifications for the R3T and the tank size is 22.3 liters. That converts to 5.89 gallons which mean the tank size is just as it should be. I'm not sure where you got 6.9 gallons, but that is grossly incorrect. With that said, I can still travel further than any other riders I have ridden with. 175 miles is no problem on my R3T. I usually fill mine up before 150 miles just for a margin of safety. I make a point never to run out of fuel for the obvious reason, but fuel going into the cylinder has a lubricating and cooling effect on the cylinder walls and pistons. My brother actually squeeze/scored a piston on his BSA years ago by running out of gas. It's just something you should never do.

That's a darn shame for a touring motorcycle. :(
My Roadster can do at least 200 miles on a tank . . . unless I have been a bad boy.

Then they apparently have corrected it, their website back in 2010, and for a year or two after, claimed 6.9.

I use the tripmeter as a guide and try to top up around 160 Ks (100miles) but have squeezed out 220 Ks after missing a servo and pressing on and put in 21 litres almost running on air 200k max from then on:cautious:

200?! I'm lucky to get 150 on my Roadster! You must have to take it easy with all that rain up there.

WOW! "Taking it easy" is NOT a comment regarding my riding I have heard!
A loud demand that I "Take it easy" is the one I have heard. :D
Truth be told, the 200 miles is when I do cruise in a normal manner.
Most of the time it's more like 180 or so when I fill up.
