Even WORSE was the day after Mt. St. Helens blew!
My partner on the job was a pilot. He & I flew around & over the restricted zone of the mountain.
I took several rolls of 36 exposure film from the plane while we dived, dipped, turned & did all we could to get the best shots of this incredible devastating, other world experience. After we landed with incredible footage in hand, visions of a Pulitzer dancing in my head (just kidding), we deplaned.
While exiting the plane, the film fell into a mud puddle and was destroyed!
