2nd gear issue.

07 classic with 37k miles. was riding yesterday and went to shift into 2nd gear at about 6,000 rpm and it didn't go in. Since then if bike is at 3000 rpm or higher very hard to get it to go into 2nd gear. all other gears are fine. all gears work fine when downshifting, including 2nd gear. Only a 2nd gear problem and only above 3000 rpm. I am the original owner and do not run my bike hard. No burnout,, wheelies, ect. The bike very rarely sees 5000 rpm on a regular basis. Any thoughts. when i say it doesn't go in, It will go in if i force it,but it clunks loudly. Not smooth like the other gears. Have never had any issues with the tranny until now.

My 2006 classic had the issue of it jumping out of second gear when under acceleration, if you not expecting it, it would give you a surprise. I had the update kit put in and never an issue since. Yours sounds slightly different, maybe the detent spring if you are lucky but I thought that would make any gear hard.

From what I'm reading on here, Triumph may have taken a couple of steps backwards on the later transmissions

I am hoping neville lush will respond. this does not seem to be the issue that plagued alot of earlier models of the rocket.( not staying in second gear under hard acceleration) I see where albertaduke is in a pickle. in the process of removing engine to get into the tranny. almost there. want to make sure if i go all the way with the tear down that i do not open up motor and cannot find what is wrong.
