2020 trim recall

I don't get the VIN syntax.. Mine's SMTYBG11J5LAA6558 is it affected or not? I fee like a chump but i don't get it :/

That VIN has one or more digits wrong. The checksum fails. Check your spelling.

It is the correct "identification number" as it is called in Swedish DMV. I used it to add bike to My Triumph app..

Try the UK website. recall-search. It comes up with no recalls.

It’s bonk, it consists of a small strip of body gap filler between the seat and the upper part of the trim, looks like it’s been cut by a 3 year old and doesn’t run the full length.

Thanks! Both sites said the same when i accessed them from cellphone, go figure. Well at least my R3R seems GTG.

Funny thing is after repair, still has a gap. Guess that wasn't the safety problem.

It’s defo not a safety recall mate it’s nothing but cosmetic!

”Safety recall” is a generic term for, well, recall. It’s not meant to be taken as a description of the nature of the work. Triumph uses a broad definition and by and large is extremely cautious. Surely it’s better they recall sometimes trivial things than go the other way and ignore more serious problems.

@Larry_M As a general rule, only the last 6 digits of your VIN are used by Triumph, especially for ordering parts or warranty claims and recalls. Yours falls outside the range for this issue.

Yeah, i suspected it was like it often is, half the VIN is color, country, date of manufacture, manufacturing plant etc. Anyway, nice to know there's no (known) problem with mine.
