1/8mi drag race Touring vs the GT

I really can’t describe how cool that experience was, pulling up to the timing lights for the very first time in my life. I am 66yo and I have been to pro nitro/rocket car/bike drag strips to watch, but I never realized you could go during the week and run your Camry. Just for the heck of it. We saw some of those. Eerily quiet and slow but they were out there doing it! Some of the super loud cars/trucks were not that fast, just noisy! I almost mentioned a motorcycle brand, but I will refrain from doing so. Go out to your local strip and try it! Everyone in the pits were super nice and helpful. This was honestly the best $25 I think I ever spent. Thank you, Kev, for dragging me out of the house!

Edited to add: My wife was not happy when I told her. “You are going to a racetrack?”
“Dragstrip, honey. And it’s safer than when I go to the grocery store.” And it really was. At one point the “starter guy?” stopped everything and hopped on his Grom to look for oil/parts after he noticed something during the run.

Had a ton of fun, 4 runs, no crashes. I raced a harley breakout with 153hp and dyno jet shifter that Konrad built. Ist race, great burnout, smooth launch, all went well, except i ran 92mph and the breakout ran 94 mph he won cleanly. 2nd race i won but his bike messed up 2nd and put him in neutral i won with a 94mph to his 86mph. 3rd race he won, he ran 95mph to my 88mph i tapped out 2nd to close to finish line. 4th race was et draw a card, i lined up with some drag bar harley and smoked it off line and had to abort run as i crossed onto line and was going his way, all ended well, learned alot, burnout very very important and i smoked the first 3 burnouts but went short on #4 and almost paid a price. I used my race box and am learning how to read the data, g force, speed, i can tell where i was pulling like a freight train and can see the slip. I will post videos and time slips as soon as they are sent to me. Running the stock engine is obviously slower but im just wanting to learn and make it all muscle memory and this is actually easier to handle. Over the next few weeks we are mounting a firehawk 500 and see what the car tire does at track.

OK you Guy's, now you got me going! Guess I'm going to have to out to the barn, and fire up my "drag" bike. Stock 2005 engine, in a hardtail frame, stretched and raked. Rico Raptor on the rear. Been sitting too long. Last fuel pump locked up from sitting. Still have to mount the new one, and plumb it in with new lines etc. I bought it un-finished years ago, with plans on running it at my local 1/8th track in Immokalee Florida. Now I feel too old and feeble, but I will wake up the neighbors soon! A nice black strip in front of the house would look good, I think! Ha!

That would be cool, a gallon of bleach and let that eat in front of house if nothing else. Have a kid record it for us, text to me and ill get it on site

Race 3 ticket, felt good, just slower than 11, i tell my self, self, this is just about you getting better, than there’s something that says, do you wanna be a looser, than send it Phil could take this blackout and i may too in the next few weeks, im working on it. Reaction time was not good, i had an issue with finger under clutch lever and bike was wanting to go when i gave it some rs, feet really holding, just an issue to fix, launching at 3 to 4 k if i had to guess, release getting better where im slinging it but managing 2 3 step release.

You need my bike, you'll be way over 100 mph. What's the 11 you refer to? 1/4 mile?
The other bike is number 11, im 090, youre right, with my 217 motor i run 104mph and thats about what phil ran on stock 2.5 with 178hp. Your bike is my first purchase than down to ft lauderdale, im just wanting the practice and its so much easier with stock engine for training, when i suit up on yours were going fast! After we tune and find out how much power is actually in that thang of yours when she switches to race fuel, with compressed air injection
