05 R3 rear TIRE removal disaster!! ANY HELP??!!

Check your wheel bearings for damage. Replace the axle (you'll be glad you did) and use a torque wrench when reassembling. The axle nut is not retained with a cotter or anything other than friction. Too much you get what you got, to little and you can lose the axle nut and axle at speed. I contemplated drilling the axle and nut to put a cotter pin thru but decided the enginerds weren't all wrong and just torqued to spec. Works like a charm. Don't have any issues getting mine off. One note, take the torque reaction bolt out enough times it's no longer a torque reaction bolt, just a regular bolt (guess how I know).
