Tried HD Breakout and it reminded me of my Rocket 3 GT

Went to a Harley-Davidson demo day and rode most of the bikes there. One bike that I didn't know about and was the only one memorable after a long day of trying the whole HD lineup of bikes was the Breakout. Like a gem among, well, you know..

It is like a mini Rocket 3. I think it is 680lb, sits lower than the Rocket, has about 2.0L engine and it is all low end torque. I think like the Rocket it makes most of it torque around and under 4K RPMs. I think Breakout is about 120lb max of torque.

It has a belt power delivery, and the throttle to wheels feels immediate vs other bikes I tried. Very comfy seat. Its rear wheel I think is same wide size as of Rocket's. But tires I think are cheaper (not as soft), there was some road noise.

It costs like $22K-$26 depending on color and the air delivery box.

Overall impression, very fun to ride.

My nearby dealership has them like 3 times a year. Because they are so frequent, when the event happens, you can ride non-stop, switching bikes.

There's no denying how great a high torque engine feels on the street. Like a GS1250 if a rider doesn't spend much time above 110 mph or so that rider will likely never notice the hp lagging behind, at least not until a real SB shows up.

The new Harleys with their air/liquid-cooled engines are highly refined machines—and they get even better with Stage 2, 3, or 4 upgrades! Even the brakes are effective now (which was certainly needed). As for me, my next bike will likely be a Road Glide ST (provided my banker—or rather, my wife—agrees...), and the only real criticism left to level at Harleys is their lack of ground clearance; the Breakout, in fact, is the perfect example of a bike that’s useless anywhere but on a straight road!

Note: I love my Rocket and its amazing engine, but between the recent issues, the cost of parts, and the lack of customization options, it's wearing me down...
