My Progressive 440's have failed (leaking). They no longer make 440's. Does anyone have a recommendation for some good (new) shocks that don't require a second mortgage ?
I had progressives before i bought the YSS's. They are not cheap , but more economical than Ikon, Wilburs ect. YSS's are much better than Progressive shocks. I had a set of 440's IIRC. EPM Performance Imports sells them. They are in New Jersey. YSS's are made in Thailand. Go to EPM's website and look around.

Have you not enquired to see if you can get them rebuilt to your spec? I’m sure Progressive shocks are rebuildable.

That's what I always thought. I have an inquiry sent off to Progressive but haven't heard back yet. From what I can gather from the interwebs, because the 440's are discontinued there are no longer parts available to rebuild them. I'll see what they have to say.

If you purchased the Progressive 440 new and have the receipt, they will warranty them. No receipt they will not even let you pay them to rebuild them. I found that out the hard way as I purchased my 440s used. They told me they have the parts only to do warranty. This was about 2 years ago.

I’d hunt around, I’ll bet all the seals etc that are required, are off the shelf and there’s a business that’ll do the job for you. In fact I’d bet any competent motor engineer will be able to do the job.

There are suspension places that can rebuild about anything, but they charge something like $200-$500 a shock, plus shipping both ways. I will likely end up just replacing them.

According to what I'm reading online, their supply of repair parts for the now obsolete 440's have been exhausted. I have an inquiry into Progressive to see what they have to say. I do have the receipt for them. They are 16 years old so unlikely to have any warranty left.
