Could it be true?

...or one of these.....
trouble is...you lost a lot of skin when you came off the bloody things....either that or one of the nails we used as a split pin to hold the wheel on, went in ya somewhere!!!

Sad to say I am old enough to remember the Laverda.
Back in the 60's & 70's they were considered pretty much POSs over here.
First decent spaggetti motors I remember were the Ducatti & Aermacchi.
Having owned Guzzis, Benellis, Ducatis and Laverdas - Certainly amongst those I had, the Laverdas were without doubt the best made. Their castings were top notch. Unlike pretty much all the other Italian marques then they used Bosch and Nippon Denso electrics. And the bits inside were well made - But they had to be maintained.

And that last bit was the cruncher back when I used 2 wheels for ALL movement. I was younger, less patient and reluctant to pay/trust others. And my then mentor was a native of Mandello del Lario and knew where and how the get and do everything to Guzzis.

But I could not fit onto the big Laverdas. They were simply too big. And it's a shame or I would have bought a 120° crank RGS. I wanted to so much.

There were only about 250 ever made of the models I had. The Montjuic.
Basically a 100% track bike 500cc twin and 60bhp - which in 1981 was no mean feat. But 18,000€ is plain silly for a used one.
The only bike I ever rode that was comparable was a Gilera Saturno Bialbero.

tbh I hanker for something along the same lines - but NOT a retro styled thing. But we cannot have everything we wish for.
I am torn right now. Part of me says "Buy something (new) that will be allowed into Madrid on SMOG alert days". Another part says "F*ck Madrid - Build a nasty antisocial little 500/600 and .................". The last part says " Get a dog, buy slippers and learn to smoke a pipe - build a steam engine".

Buy a KTM SDGT... cat delete and pipe to make it anti social, but easy enough the swap back for MOT. My understanding is the '18s are trying to be cleared out for the upgraded '19s.
YMMV in Spain on the deals though

Ah but then I'd have to ditch the R3 - Mrs B. has decreed. And this sort of thing is why I had to sell the last Sports Tourer - Mrs B. has a mean kidney punch.

I'll have a root about at Spanish dealers. KTM Spain only mention 2019.

I grew up on a dairy farm and we had some nice downhill tracks. One was quite wide and running away from the milking shed. My cousin and i got the tractor with the blade on it and graded the track nice and smooth for about 300 yards down hill.
Graeme got on the trolley and set off downhil!! The bloody steering rope broke, the trolley went sideways and flipped and Gray went sliding on his butt cheek for ALONG way...grazed his right side of his bum real bad!!
We canned that idea as a bad one!!

Just to get back on track with the thread...in this shot, it looks like the riders foot is behind the exhaust...or is it just me...?

Can you ask the person in front to move their head a bit for a more complete picture
