Jeez that sounds like a horrible work routine and 3hr commute each way leaving less than 6 hours a day to sleep. :eek::notworthy::notworthy:
What do you do and why so far away from work?

Before retiring a couple of years ago I did 12 hours shifts 7-7,2 days, 2 nights and 4 days off for 12 years on a similar 365 day a year roster, regardless of Public Holidays, weekends etc in the national security scene but had the huge advantage of a 12 minutes largely traffic free ride/drive the 15km to work and back and 5 weeks rec leave a year when I chose. :D:thumbsup::whitstling:
by the time I go around picking all 3 of my hands up store stop drive to the rig half hour safety mtg work 12 hours give handover notes to my relief drop the hands off go home myself days all over but shower eat sleep do it all over again mind you I am working close to home now was in snyder texas about 9 hour drive one way motel it for 2 weeks then 2 weeks off now its 7 on 7 off

May I ask..... if it's thanks giving who are u actually thanking? :thumbsdown:
my wife of 34 years for putting up with me,2 healthy successful boys,one adorable grandkid that I am working,healthy(except for my head)aunts uncles grandparents who I grew up with and learned my morals from, and some dam good friends who I was able to ride with not long ago

What did u do ? Horrible night shifts ! Now what do you do with your time? Any hobbies ?
I loved night shifts.

Monitoring, reporting, logging and following up any and every minor, major and meaningless security related thing that ever happened at an Aussie Airport or Port or on an aircraft/vessel in or arriving/departing Australia or involving Australian aircraft and vessels o'seas;
foreign military aircraft and vessel movements; airport landing/takeoff in curfew period requests;
issuing permits for all aircraft movement of the immigration internees shunted around Australia, Nauru and Manus Island in PNG;
same for all prison inmate transfers aircraft;
arranging permits for import / export and carriage of firearms, weapons, biological samples and organs, including umbilical cords of newborn Kiwi Maoris going home to their parent's motherland:D;
and responding to lots of other weird sh!t that the public asked about airport security, screening and what not.

I've got a dog, bikes, newspapers, forums, oldies and drinking to excess. I run out of time everyday to do, read and watch the stuff I enjoy without even going anywhere. I love retirement despite staying up till 4-5am too regularly reading stuff, then getting up at 9.30-10. Old habits die hard but someone has to do it. What ever I feel like, when ever I want!;):D:roll:

Happy thanksgiving to all!!

Well that 'Bird' was definitely a cockerel once..:eek::eek:

We killed the bird. My Brother in law rented a cabin in a forest preserve on a pond. It was a great thanksgiving. We had no internet or cell service which drove the kids nuts, but we adults loved it. We actually had what they call conversions . As my wife and her family is of Mexican Indian decent from Texas we have the best mix of food with Turkey and home made tamales and potatoes and beans and and and Photos for you Mrs. Nat
