Final drive question

The splines where the drive shaft connect to the final drive are going bad on mine. I want to change it out before it fails and leaves me stranded.

Holy $hit?
One more time leaping into the breech . . . with feeling???

Was referring to you going back into your final drive - AGAIN!?

Aah ! It'll be a walk in the park this time. Just have to pull the swing arm to replace the drive shaft. Nuthin' to it but to do it ! Got my eat-me-bay $10.00 brand new drive shaft and $360 final drive that looks like new (if it's the right one). I should be all set. Wasn't planing on doing this till next tire change but I want to make sure it's the correct final drive. Probably start on it tomorrow after work.

But wait there's more ! I bought a left Maddog muffler on eat-me-bay for $20.00. It's got some light scratches that only show if the lights right. No dings or road rash. Wanted to try to track down the other two, but the seller said it was in a box of parts bought some time ago and he couldn't remember where it came from  Good chance it came off a wreck and the other two were trashed ? The world may never know :(

My final drive was about half gone. Probably would have made it for awhile but I don't want to get stranded again, in case Rick's not around ;)

My back tire was farther gone than I thought. It's down to the wear bars in couple places so I'll replace it while it's apart.

I grafted my new drive shaft onto my yoke that connects to the engine. No easy feat getting that u-joint apart. It wouldn't have been bad if I wasn't going to reuse it. Getting it apart without wrecking took a little thought. Triumph only sells the drive shaft as an assembly. No replacement u-joint. Somebody said there are ones made for quads that will fit. I haven't heard of any quads that make 150 ft lbs. of torque so I think I'll pass on trying one of those

Fred, that is not a mad dog in the picture its a Jardine can (left side) :)
From the looks of your final drive splines I am surprised the shaft splines are still good.
