Hello;
I just started to enjoy ridind a R3Touring but compared to my previous performance exhausted midnighstar, I really do not like the sound of bike. Dealer proposed a set of mufflers+commander. Does anybody has experience on that? Is it making the sound better?
Thank you.

I don't have an R3T, but I know Jardine makes a complete system (header to mufflers) that really gives the Rocket a rumble. This is what I run. Triumph also has their accessory muffers (TORs), and D&D makes a pair of slip on mufflers for the R3T.

I haven't heard any of the exhaust systems on the R3T, but I have used the TORs for the Rocket Standard. They have a nice, raspy sound. I currently run the Jardine system, which I assume would be very similar for the R3T. They make a much deeper sound that you can even feel when you're standing by the bike. They do resonate some inside of a full face helmet, but not at all with an open face. I wear a full face most of the time though, and I'm fine with it and am very happy with the Jardine system.

The Jardines will require fuel map modifications. This can be done with a Power Commander, TuneECU software, or TuneBoy software.. all of which have "canned" fuel maps for the Jardine system. Triumph has their own map for the TORs if you wanted to go that route.. and I believe D&D's can get away with the Triumph TOR map as well.

Just wanted to say,
Welcome to the site.
A lot of info here,
good folks who'll go above and beyond to help in just about anything rocket related,
so any questions, just ask, somebody who's been there and done that, will help.
Glad to have you with us.

Sound wise is a lot differnt than your previous bike..that extra cylinder makes it sound like a pulling tractor verses a iron horse! It does grow on you though. When your blowing by things the sound bouncing off whatever your passing sounds a lot better than at idle

I have an R3T with the TORs. I like the sound very much. It's not too loud, much deeper in the bass. I'm running triumphs map, but will be adding a GI-PRO ATRE in order to open the secondaries in gears 1, 2 and 3. should be interesting to see what happens.

Jardines

I just installed the new complete Jardine exhaust system on my Rocket 3 Touring .It at first was very loud but after one week it has become bearable.I am going to have it dyno-tuned next week for maximun power...it runs fine and little popping on deceleration..The shop (non-Triumph dealer)is recommending a power commander with the installation,the unit and the tuning for $700...A little pricey but it seems that its the way to go.Fuel mileage is 38-40 hwy now,My friends do not think they are too loud(I do but I am on top),I am now using ear plugs and have learned to ease on the throttle while accelerating.It feels as though someone gives me a push at the power band..50 in 3rd gear and it really scoots..I know it will be better next week!At our NWMeet'nGreet last sunday My bike had all the Rocket Captain Drooling!I included the shot of my RAT airbrushed custom bags!

I have the TORS and will probably keep them as they can be heard at idle inside a store and I still have hearing damage from a 6 into 6 cobra set on a valkyrie.

That being said, I have heard an R3T on D&D's and if I was going loud I would consider them.
