WTF just happened at that light?!

Bugger!!!!!!

Yep probably wont be the last time. Got another ticket before this one, cop pulls me over. I said "I didn't even see you where were you". He said "You overtook me" He was in a row of cars I was blasting past, was a marked car too. Hard to argue that one, he said he was amazed I didn't see him.

That is always my biggest concern here in hawaii. Since cops can use their personal car as their patrol car by adding a small light. It would be incredibly easy to miss in a pack of cars as you go flying by them.

Ok, so I will give up a little story as well on this vein.

Headed home early this summer from a long day at work. I get off of the highway and begin to make the trek up the last few miles of side streets home. The last stretch is 3 lanes wide on both sides and nice and straight.

I am at a light just before a long stretch that goes over a hill about a mile ahead. A brand new $140,000 Viper pulls up next to me. I glance over and we both know its on. Light goes green and we both dump it. I am burning through gears knowing that he his hot on my heels. As we get to the crest of the hill I am pegged and he is still behind me, but not by much. I decide to back off not knowing what is on the other side of the hill and he shoots past.

Adrenaline pump - cost of a little fuel
Possibly getting thrown in jail - worth the run
Out running a $140,000 Viper - priceless

"That's funny"

just imagine how much harder you would have gone with a car tire on back (sticks rather than spins).

Based on my experience, not so, this.
A CT spins on launch just as easily!

Bob Carpenter when they set the land speed record with their rocket 3, they tried a car tire and it just ended up spinning more than the bike tire so they went back to the bike tire.
Literally NO reason to run a car tire.

Excellent post - I have bookmarked that forum for future perusal!

of course the reference to the LSR runs is completely irrelevant to this scenario. High speed runs are always done with skinny tires.

Drag races are a totally different thing. Have you ever seen a top fuel dragster with skinny tires??

Yep... They are on the front.... The rear tyres on a top fuel dragster are soft rubber with LOADS of surface area contact to enable the 10,000 HP to get to the track and stay there. and they are doing massive speed at the end of around 300+mph.
