Hey everyone. First post, found this forum trying to find a solution to my problem. No bueno. Bought my rocket 3 from a friend but won't start. One of the relays make a buzzing sound and there's a clicking sound from under the tank. For the life of me, I cannot find any info about the 4 relays. Every pic and story I read, everyone says they have 3 on the left side and 2 on right. I have 4 and 1. I think the relay is for the fuel pump though.

That's the relay in question. The next pic is where the clicking sound is coming from:

If I disconnect any one of the 3 plugs, the relay stops buzzing.

I'm not a mechanic but I know my way around a wrench and this has me completely stumped. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I am not sure why you have 4 on one side (unless one of the was installed for an aftermarket horn, something to check). What year/model are we talking about here? Tourings only have one relay on the right side. Also, as an aircraft electrician from way back, if I suspected a relay or other replaceable part and there was one close by in the system I would just do a quick swap and see what happened. The most basic of troubleshooting to be sure because if it doesn't change anything you haven't learned a thing but if it causes the symptoms to go away or change it gives you a starting point.

Thanks Bob. I should've put this info in my original post. Doesn't appear as though I can edit it to add it after the fact. Maybe you can, I'm new to forums in general. It's a 2012 Roadster. I'm going to text the guy I bought it from and see if he did anything to it

Manual and electrical diagram is in my signature, and some other stuff that you may find useful.

btw, welcome and hang around and join in even after your problem is solved. Lots of good people here.

Dies it rattle only when you press starter button or when you turn on key

For me it sounds like a bad ground. I could be wrong but it happened to me once. All I did was clean & retighten all connectors to the battery.added die-electric grease after. If that didn't work, then I would unplug the relays one at a time, turn key and see which one rattles . Install a new one in its place, they are not that expensive. if it still rattles then its in that part of the wiring. I not an expert but that's what I would do. Maybe wait and see if others have a better idea's.
Just relooked at the picture after writing this and there seems to be a wire that is not connected on the picture ??

The buzzing should be the fuel pump priming. I agree with what @Bernard Vinet says. I have problems with 2 of my R3s not wanting to start every once in a while. I usually just have to retighten the battery posts, and they fire right up.

If you are posting from your phone, turn it sideways and you will get a couple of extra options. Edit is one of those. :D

I had my left side cover off earlier on a 2015 Roadster and noticed it too has 4 relays.

From what I can tell from left to right they are Fuel Pump Relay, EMS Relay, Cooling Fan Relay (all the same) and Starter Relay (smaller).

OEM Electrical Parts diagram part #52: STARTER RELAY, CHANGEOVER T2506035 - appears for 2011 and newer...

I couldn't find a Triumph diagram showing all 4 left-side relays...
