Yeah..i'm not to familar with the touring rear tire, but i know Dunlop makes a white walls for the V-max
170/80-15 rear
140/80-17 front http://directlineparts.com/product.asp?pid=2305&str=11&ID=356884328
The 150/80-R17 white walls are pretty rare if it all. I was looking for a white pin stripe front to no avail. when i went dark side with the Bridgestone Potenza

Yeah, the R3T has offbeat sizes - the rear is a 180 70 16, the front a 150 80 16.

The Avon Venoms have a gap right there, if talking rear tires - they have 170, then it jumps to 200. The Metzeler ME880 go no further than 170, either, in the whitewall category. Looking at Michelin Commander II's (non-whitewall, but in the quest of maximum tire life) they have a 180 65 16 rear, but the fronts top out at 140.

Basically, choices are pretty limited, which is why I'm thinking of attempting the ME880 plus D407 combo, different manufacturers but both are bias tires with high weight ratings.

Of course, just learned that since the D407 is a Harley tire, the price is high and it actually has a Harley logo stamped on it. That may be a dealbreaker right there. :)

The American Elite gen 2 is a similar tire, but finding it in Europe... probably not going to happen. And neither Revzilla or Motorcycle Superstore ship tires abroad, so using MyUS or some other repackager I'd probably wind up with a $400 tire... ouch. Sometimes it really sucks to not be in the states.

Triumph has a special tire made with white side walls for the new Thunderbird LT, I think Avon was making them but for the Rocket?????????????????

I didn't realize they were the exact size the Rocket Touring draws too at first. The load numbers on them look the same as the stock Metzerlers, and they're radials (as I said in my previous post). If I can find a set, I'm probably getting them.

Great find! And Avon recommends the Cobra blackwall tires for the Rocket Touring. I've writeen to Avon asking for confirmation that Cobra WW are equally appropriate.

Yeah I emailed my local dealer yesterday and already asked him to try to track down a set. I'm more enthused than ever after seeing the Thunderbird LT with whitewalls - it resembles the R3T a lot, and looks fantastic with whitewalls.

That's interesting. I always thought that the Thunderbird wore a 200 section rear as opposed to the Rocket's 180 section. Does the new LT carry a smaller section rear meat?

One other point, fwiw, I'm running Avon Cobras on my R3T and I've rarely been happier with any tire setup for any bike I've ever owned. In my opinipn, they're fantastic tires for the R3T.

My local dealer was all "grumble too new not in the catalogs yet grumble" but he'd look; I did some digging online and found them as a special order at http://www.mandp.co.uk/ - they say 2-3 week order time, which is survivable. Even if it probably will stretch to a month or something... after some currency conversion, I make it $530 delivered for the set, which isn't as bad as I feared (everything costs a fortune in Europe). If my dealer can't get them I'll just order. Oh, and they're actually V rated, not H rated, so if I'm in a hurry I'm set. ;) Downside is that V-rated tires will wear out faster, but the grip should be great.

Search the "Old School" thread for more info. I didnt want to shell out all that money to HD either but I did like the look.
