Weird clicking sound once the engine gets hot - VIDEO uploaded

Motul states that 300v is a race oil and normal service intervals may not be appropriate. Thats why motul does not have a change interval listed. At 5k id bet the viscosity is low. An oil analysis would tell you this. Motul 300v is great oil and i like it, but 5k is probably too much for the oil shearing monster we captain. Just my opinion, not looking for a fight over oil and how long between changes.

I am waiting on triumph to have the OEM triumph oil available but they are taking too long to stock it :S

They are just going to be selling someone else's oil with their name on it. Like Triumph oil filters are rebranded Wix filters. Don't buy the lie.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't the rule of thumb 10psi for every 1,000 rpms give or take the weight of the oil?
I've heard some bad ticking sounds in the past from rod nock, injector chatter, ping and valves. None of them sound like this. And most of them are issues when cold too or more so when cold.

It's hard for me to tell from the video. If not heat shields possibly valve chatter. @Nashvegas asked if you revved it does the sound change-I'd be curious about that. You're getting close to needing that valve check and adjustment, but it could very well be a rattle of something like a heat shield or other part. Wish I could tell you for sure.

I'm like Journeyman... Hard to tell. It does sound like regular valve/chain chatter. I really don't hear anything that would cause me to be alarmed though. I too would be curious to hear what the sound is like under slight load, reving up, accelerating lightly etc. If it was an exhaust leak, it should be more pronounced then. I'd ride it...

whatever oil meets spec, do not be fooled that you need "motorcycle" oil
the service interval is so low that it does not otherwise matter.

Sitting here reading the thread I had a thought maybe it's the decompression parts near the cam making the unrecognized noise .
My guess even if you lost one or two it would still start ok.

you definitely need to know that it is wet clutch compatible, the 300v i really like, if you would do a blackstone oil analysis i would pay for it just to see the results of 5000 miles on this oil. I currently run lucas motorcycle ( wet clutch compatible) racing full synthetic 50wt and like it, but i change oil often, it depends how hard i run it in the course of its life. Some people buy the cheapest and change at whatever interval and do fine, until you take one apart and see the difference. Claviger built my first engine and said to me then, any oil over 3k in these engines is pushing it. Ive found oil sits in a galley on cylinder 3 exhaust and must just cook. Anyway, offer stands for a free oil analysis on the 300v i will even send you the collection bottle and envelope to mail in, i will pre pay it to them is how they blackstone operates. No professional engine builder puts whatever oil in an engine, and oil engineers will definitely tell you oils are not created equal and oil additives are like playing russian roulete with an engine. Total seal the oil guy, lake speed can tune you up in the forbidden topic of oil.

Last week they recommended Mobil 1. I run Lucas 20w 50 motorcycle full synthetic. You can buy it in 5 gallon buckets at Summit Racing. Very good stuff.
