I purchased a 2006 R3 about 3 months ago. I've had to bring it in twice with idling issues and they were not able to correct the problem. It would idle high and idle search about 60% of the time. About 2 weeks ago I was parking in a parking lot and when I turned the handlebars to the left the bars hit the tank and put a small dent and 2 scratches on the left side of the tank. I noticed it right off and stood the bike back up and turned the bars back straight and pulled down and noticed it was loose enough to force it further down. I had the tools to retighted it so I moved them to where when the bars where turned all the way to the left it was about 2.5" from the tank. NO MORE IDLING PROMBLEMS SINCE! It must have been the throttle cable having too much tension on it. I had noticed they were tight when I bought the bike. Now...my question is should Triumph repair my tank? sorry for the long post but I am going to the dealer today to discuss this with them and wanted some input.

Thanks, I'll see what I can find. hopefully there is and I can print it out before I head to the dealer. Yes, I bought it from the dealer where I'm headed to today. their service department is sub-par. when I took it in for the first service they drained the oil and then told me they didn't have the crush washer to put the drain plug back in and my bike wouldn't be ready for a week! I hope they have gotten better.

"FOR REAL" If i were you, i would find myself a new dealer, PDQ And i would give Triumph the heads up about that so called Dealer
And i am fu--ked if id let them look at my bike, never mind work on it.....

If you bought the bike new, the dealer of course performed the set-up. So the scratches were caused by improper set-up. Not a warranty issue, but a service issue. The dealer should pay the cost to repair/replace the tank.

how did they repaint it? mine is the mulberry red tribal, I figured they would never be able to make it look even close to matching the fenders. did they repaint the entire bike? I had them check on the tank and the warehouse in Georgia does not have it. they may have to get it shipped across the pond...there is a part number for the tank in the color I have though.
