Just pondering...........I should be going to our Warwick Ulysess xmas do at Tin Can Bay the weekend of the 3/4th December.

However I can't get enough time off work to make it so I thought about going for a run to Hervey Bay, I really need to get the cobwebs out.
I have no plans yet but maybe get there on the Friday and head home Sunday.

Marty would that weekend be free for you and if other captains want to join in would that be OK?

As I said no plans but if OK I'll get organised!!!!

Someday if youve got a minute I'd love to know how Tin can Bay got its name ;)

The name Tin Can Bay is derived from "tinchin" or "tidhin" name for the species of mangrove in Yugumbir language spoken by the Aboriginals at that time.

Others say that Tin Can is a word derived from the word "tinken" a vine with a large ribbed leaf which grew on the beaches here. The area was also known as TUNCUNBA - BA meaning "Place of " TUNCUN" meaning "Dugong" or "Plenty of tucker".A white lad that came with the Aboriginals about a hundred years ago was "Zachariah Daniel Sparkes Skyring" he was one of the first permanent residents in the area, he later called the town "Tin Can Bay". Zachariah was born on 13th. July, 1861 and died on the 4th.June, 1957.

G'day BigAl; yes mate weekend definitely free!!!! When you get here what's your interest, riding, drinking, eating, talking bull****, relaxing, fishing, or all of the above.

Let me know for sure if you wanna a ride around the local area and what you would like to see and do. Will make sure BBQ a definate, 6 good drinks out of a bottle of bundy if you're up for it.

The Mrs, bless her heart, has giving me permission to have a play mate come over, looking forward to your visit. I'll even come and meet you half way here and take the scenic route to Hervey Bay.

If you would like we take a ride to Tin Can Bay & Rainbow beach only 2 hours from my place. And yes other captains who wants to come, more than welcome.

Let me know how many, and if you're staying over night, to save a quid, you're more than welcome to pitch a tent in the back yard.
