Ok, the whining noise is coming from the rear final drive.
Ok first I have had good luck with Pinwall and that is a lower price then normal. If memory serves me right its because its has som scaring on the paint from going down on that side. the splines are rusty meaning this guy never lubricated them but they do look in good shape. I would say this is a good deal.
If I were you I would fist drain the fluid in the final drive and check for any metal particles. Then I would pull it and inspect the splines on both the drive shaft and the inside of the final drive for wear. this will also allow you to check for slop in the bearing on th einput side of the final drive. if its sloppy that is your problem. make sure the drive shaft is in good condition as you would not want to change the final drive and damage it with worn driveshaft splines. If you have the time and initiative lubricat the splines both male and female and put it back in. Do not pump up the rear brakes and take her for a spin sometimes the brake pads give off a whining noise so with no [ressure on them you can see if you hear a difference. Also a wheel bearing could be the culprit check them prior to assembly. Of course if you find a sloppy bearing on the final drive don't waste your time putting it back together. if you don't check the other suggestions especially the wheel bearings.
Agin that is a good price for a final drive especially with only 12,220 miles on it. If you put it back together make sure you follow the torque sequence and do not over torque the drin and fill plugs to often people break the off.
Oh and if you decide to buy from them do not mistake the touring final drives to be the same as they are not they are a 90 degree bevel where the standards are not.
