Hello to all,

I am only new to the forum thing, I have a question does anybody know if there is a better or long lasting type of rear tyre available for the rocket other than the metzler. I am curious as it costs me 480.00 dollars to change it.

Welcome to the site. You will find a wealth of information here. The best feature to become familiar with is the Search menu. It will lead you quickly to information that you are seeking.

You ask a very, very common question. The Metz has quite a reputation for being short-lived. The average is around 5000 miles with some as low as 3000 and a few getting as high as 9000 or more (how they do it is a mystery). Right now your choices are the stock Metzler or you can fit an Avon Cobra which is even more expensive.

Now an alternative that many Rocket Captains have done is what we call going to the Darkside, as in fitting a car tire to the Roc. There is an entire Forum dedicated to this. I have close to 4000 miles on my Riken Raptor 225/55ZR16 and it still looks brand new.

Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the site Graeme, without going to a taller wheel aka carbon fiber type you are indeed limited to 2 Mfgs. As snuff and tdragger mentioned I too have been economically forced to go dark and have been smiling ever since. Not having to concern about go and stop is a load off to be sure.

Graeme, I thought the darksiders were nuts but it was the right move for me. Riken Raptor 225/55 ZR16.

Hey Snuff, which seat is that? The passenger seat looks like it would be more comfortable the Triumph gel pillion.

R3 Tyres

I have heard that the most recent rendition of the Suzuki M90's tire is a good fit. What about that?

Suzuki's web sit says the m90's rear tire is a 200/50ZR17 Rocket's use a 16 inch rear.

BTW nice seat but a little wide for my wallet.

Don't know about that Ron, but I wanted to welcome both of you onboard. So to Ron and Graeme, Welcome from Oklahoma to a great forum with lots of real decent folks, and a few obnoxious buttheads.
What "color" rocks you guys got?
