Turns over fast but, won't start

I finally get someone to purchase my 2005 and now it won't start. It begin giving me a hard time starting in the a.m. It would crank for a while then start. the rest of the day it would start normal. I've tried starting fluid in the air filter box still no start. I've owned the bike for 27,000 miles so I know what's normal. I'm getting ready to check the crank angle sensor. I'm thinking about removing a plug to see if its wet. Can you tell me what size socket it requires? Any help will be appreciated. I'm not sure what to do from here. My nearest dealer is 2 hours north. Besides I would have to push this monster onto a trailer to tow it.

The spark plug socket should be in your tool kit under the seat. I don't remember the size.. but I know you need that thin-wall socket to get to the spark plugs.

You don't have a lot of miles, but it's still an '05. Might check the spark plug wires for cracks. I had to replace mine the year before last. Two of them, the rubber was split to the core. Also, check any of the vacuum lines. I'm basically shooting in the dark like you at the moment, but those are a couple of things I can think of.

That stinks that it decided to do this right when you have a buyer!.. That is something my bike would do if I tried to sell it.. lol
 
How frustrating is that? Could it be a bad coil or bad ground. Check battery connections as well as the ground cable connection.

Pull all low tension leads of coils (remember which on goe where clean terminal and lead and crimp the lead with needle nose piers they lossen up and give no spark or etratic spark. Use dilaltetric grease. Also check crank sensor and clean.Then check for spark and whe can go from there.

I've checked every connection I see. I removed the crank sensor and sprayed with brake clean. Disconnected and did an ohm meter check (500) ohms. I was going to switch out the sensor from my 08 Rocket but, sense it passed the test figured it wasn't necessary. I'm still thinking of doing it just to completely eliminate it. Rerouting the cable is a real pain. The plug connector is in a very tight spot. Plus it's routed through an engine cavity that you can hardly see.

I assume you have checked there is power getting to the coils from ECU if a crank angle sensor is working and all connection are good may be just double check the connections between C/A Sensor and ECU, is the signal getting from the ECU to the coils
I am just stabbing in dark as this is the route I would be taking eliminate every thing backwards along the line from the spark plugs

So, do you think the crank sensor can still be bad even though it t past the ohm test? If so ,I think I'll go ahead and switch out the sensor, although it is a challenge to reinstall the wiring harness.
 
I am not saying this is your problem.But this happened to me a few years back. I tested the sensor and was ok. I installed a new one and it started straight up.and has not missed a beat since.

have you checked all the relays as well.
