So I bought a OBDLink MX+ so I would have access to my ECU for doing various things. To be more specific, I wanted to do the service reset on my Rocket 3 GT at the one year 5000 mile interval. For the record, I have around 5700 miles on my bike so I bought the oil, filter, crush washers, coolant, brake fluid, final drive oil and did my own service to save the $450 plus the dealer would have charge me. I bought most of the critical stuff from my dealer so there would be a record of the purchase. Since my first service on my bike was a year ago, the service alert was doing its countdown to today's date and finally, I now had a permanent service symbol stuck on my display.

Anyway, I have a Samsung Galaxy S23+ with a registered version of TuneECU installed. Unfortunately, TuneECU refused to see my OBDLink MX as my phone is at software Version 15....I think anything at version 14 or above you are going to be out of luck! I had my old Galaxy S8+ still hanging around with only version 9 installed, so I decided to give that a try. Low and behold it linked up to my OBDLink MX, but I couldn't do anything because TuneECU said I was using an unlicensed/unregistered version. Now I knew I had an old and grandfathered in license for 5 bikes with TuneECU, but I couldn't get it registered and working. After doing some reading and taking a long shot, I finally deleted the "user.lic" file off my phone ...which FYI is located in the TuneECU folder on the phone drive. After doing that, I was able to selected the email I had registered it under and update my registration for the app on my old phone. I was able to reset my service interval and I am good to the 10,000 mile mark and today's date. Since my bike is still under warranty I will most likely be biting the bullet and taking it in for the big bucks service at 10k. I will probably be doing all the fluids again to save some time and money, but the dearler will have to do a few other big items at that 10K maintenance mark. I will probably be ready for tires as well.

The down side to this story is... I will have to carry my old phone on a trip if I want to use my OBDLink MX+ to access the ECU for doing things like checking and clearing a code. I don't think the version issue has been fixed or there is a workaround.:(

If you bought your license before the upgrade to renewable licenses you're probably stuck with using the original phone app as well. I had the dreaded "not registered" drop down on my Galaxy when I plugged it into my Rocket GT for the first time, but I just needed to renew my expired license. After that eazy peazy.
