Interesting eBay ad for an '08 Rocket Touring. It notes:

"Triumph Rocket III. Great bike, runs strong. Slips out of gear but will stay in gear with foot on shifter. Local pick up."

Oh yeah? I didn't know that, I thought that was strictly detent spring issue, what does the update fix , specific to that problem, I know there's lots of stuff.

Jumps out of 2nd gear on hard acceleration is the standard symptom.

I think they replaced some dogs in the box.

Having said that, the problem was pretty much solved by 2008, although there were rare ones that need the update, so it is probably the detent spring. Definitely worth a look at and negotiating the price down.
