2010 Triumph R3T Black "Darksider" imitation 70cc motorized "Harley Davidson" bicycle
Can anyone here recommend a good quality hard trunk for my upcoming "new R3T"
I want a big one like they have on some Harleys like the Electraglide but without any fancy lights or backrest padding for a passenger, as the bike already comes with a passenger backrest.
I also do not want to pay Harley prices, so is there a good aftermarket one?
I had a look at these but I am not sure if its what I want. MUTAZU Motorcycle Trunks
Its the Vivid Black DMY.
Any opinions? thanks

I have the DMY on my 06 Classic. Take sissy bar off and it bolts onto the luggage rack with very little effort. I bought the rounded back rest on mine. Functioning perfectly so far. Paint is good still, no leaks, great for the price. Pillion said that the backrest beats the heck out of the stock Triumph backrest pad for long distance comfort and it feels safer too.

The DMY is on my bike and STB has the other one on her R3T in this pic.

Thanks for the picture Ozzman, that trunk looks really sharp on a nice R3.
Thats probably what I will get then.
It looks to be a nice size too, not overly huge like some big Harleys and not too small too.

Hey Ozzman I like the look of that trunk. How hard is it for your passenger to get get on the bike with the trunk and the Beetle bags? Can you open the lids of the Beetle bags all the way without hitting the trunk? Is there any chance you could post a pic looking at the trunk from the front of the bike? Thanks for your help.

Trunk for R3T

I ordered the Scootworks Supertrunk III and am taking the trunk itself to the painter tommorrow. Scootworks reccomends the trunk be painted before installation. I did get the Wompus Rack that comes with the Supertrunk installed, taking about three hours. This would have been easier had they provided the correct bolts but a trip to the local ACE Hardware store solved that. The trunk is well made of strong fiberglass and the latches & hinges are good quality. The passenger backrest is made by Mustang, also high quality. I also ordered the chromed luggage rack made by Kuryakin which will go on top of the trunklid. When I get the trunk back from the paint shop, I will resume my installation and will keep you posted on my progress.

Goodday,

Maybe you like this one. I imported it into The netherlands from China.
It is available in Black ( fits nicely to the Triumph Black) or in a groundcolor for your own painting. Also easy to fit on the Touring.
TRhere is also already something on the Forum about this trunk.
Good Luck.

Hans

Not hard for her to mount up. She does as she always has, stands on one peg and swings the leg over. Non issue.

THE ISSUE is that with this trunk you can only get the Beetles open about 4 inches so small stuff only in there or clothing rolled up:mad:. There is a narrower trunk at JC Whitney that allows the Corbins to open and it does not look bad but it does not come in colors like these do. I will probably opt for one of those someday. Since I bought a trailer the Beetles are for rain gear, tire guage, bungies, and small stuff that I use infrequently. Your rolling papers and bong would need to go in the trunk;) ( I hope those are the names you young folks use for apparatae :D ).

The trunk holds a lot more than it looks like as the lid is about 3 inches tall and creative packing lets ya get a lot in there.

I wonder if that Mutazu trunk will cause a problem for me to open up the 2010 stock R3Touring hard side panniers?
Anyone know? I dont want to order it and find out that they won,t open more than 4 inches and have to send it back.
Opening only 4 inches will not cut it for me.

macrider there is no problem with opening the lids on the saddle bags when i first put it on it was with the luggage rack in the back then i bought her the solo luggage rack with the solo seat and no problem there neither and i used it for a short time when i was working in south GA and had no problem opening my saddle bags
