Troubles and havent even had first ride

Thanks guys, i have more to try in about 5 hours. i had alot happening yesterday so i became frustrated. fresh day fresh start, i was really happy wioth progress yesterday, hearing the bike start.i will do as suggested and see how it goes. :)

we checked the exhaust its a stainmaster made in australia. i checked out the buisness and the only one they are selling on their site for my type of bike is the following:

Triumph Rocket III Touring
TR MS ROC T Triumph Rocket III Touring Twin Retro Style Sports Mufflers No Removable Restrictor

i am assuming that with this info i should use the 219 map, unfortunatley still having troubles connecting the pc to bike, been trouble shooting as people advised. i will try to start from scratch with another laptop

getting a fuel pressure gauge today is going to be impossible for me but i will try and go through everything else so they are all counted out.

OK, got the cable working through different laptop, when we started the bike and kept trying to keep it running the following came up " p0460 feul level sensor circuit malfunction" this is the first time this has come up so i will reseach this now.

More than likely the level sensor did a backflip (don't ask how I know this) when they replaced the filter etc, its a tricky thing to get out of the tank.
Did you try to clear the code?

well it now depends on the cat-box config - 219 is for one whether the OEM cat-box is gone completely, replaced by simple balance plumbing;
218 is for box still there and complete with catalyst
221 would be for box still there, but with the catalyst gutted.

Yeah, you may have to pull the pump again to see what is going on with the level sensor
It won't cause any running issues, so you can revisit that later if you choose

From this post - http://www.r3owners.net/threads/cat-delete-installed-holy-crap.10506/page-3#post-116852 - it suggests that Staintune for the Classic had a crossover that eliminated the cat-box

I have not been on D&D or Staintune web page for awhile but they had not been making a cross over pipe for the Touring, only the Classic and Standard (3 pipe models). For those it is a cat eliminator ....
i.e. the Staintune system for your Classic/Tourer probably HAS a cat eliminator

So that puts you back at the 219 map - sorry for confusing the situation but at least you now know what you have.
You weren't really sure whether you had 221 or 219 installed, so probably go ahead & re-install 219. I don't think will make a huge difference either way - when comparing these maps there are only very subtle differences - certainly not enough to cause the current issue.

I would still go ahead with the re-adaption process anyway but would just feel better about knowing the fuel pressure is solid.

we ordered a fuel pump, fuel filter. couldnt get it to crank. Told triumph dealer about the bad fuel and the parts we replaced .... advised them that we changed the fuel pump. ... we ended up getting a new fuel pressure regulator put it in but it still did the same thing.

When you did the flush as I suggested earlier, (running the fuel line into a jar) before re-installing the fuel rail/cleaned injectors (you did do that, right?) how did the flow look - was it strong?
(Flow itself is no guarantee of pressure once the hose is terminated into the fuel rail - it will seek the path of lowest resistance which is the open hose unless connected; once connected it SHOULD then be the regulator, unless there are leak paths into the main tank vessel)
You mentioned replacing the regulator previously - was that a new OEM part? Or ???
Regulator o-ring replaced along with new regulator? (note that the o-ring is specific to the model year regulator bracket/junction fitting, although regulator itself is unchanged between model years))
The filter is installed in the correct orientation, arrow towards the outlet? (sorry to ask - just checking all the variables)
The hose connections for fuel filter etc are all tight, no possibility of fuel passing? (reducing the pressure) Did you re-use the hose clamps, confident those are good & tight?
All the short hoses in the pump for the interconnects are good? not perished or cracked?
The black stuff in the fuel rail that you flushed earlier sounds suspiciously like hose material (can't think what else it could be)

The pressure gauge of course would tell you immediately if you have any leaks in the pump system - in lieu of that, if going in to check the fuel gauge anyway, just go through all those pump interconnects and validate their integrity

fresh start today, we changed tps (we brought a new one anyway as it had the old one on) bike did as it did before. we booked a pressure test gauge for this arvo so we thought we would go back through everything that was suggested and tick of boxes. whilest pulling the hoses off the fuel pump we noticed that the little hidden hose under the fuel pressure regulator looked a bit warped. it was swelled with about only half the size of the other hoses and basically it was soft like putty. We cut all new hoses for each part, pulled the connectors apart give them some wd40. the two hoses overflow on the tank looked like they may be on the wrong end (we got it like that) so swapped them around. ran ecutune and then "the bike started and idled perfectly. took the bike for 2 short rides stalled a couple of time when in ideling but fired up straightaway.

I noticed somepeople talking about a 12 min tune, havent done that before so might look into that. no back firing, pipes running clear. I couldnt believe it, now i just have to learn how to ride it. only had sport bikes in the past and it seems very different to them (First time cruiser :). i just want to thank everyone for your help and input, you gave me the confidence to get in and have a go. even though i might have gone around it the long way, i now know the fuel system of my bike for future references which is priceless and the original intention when getting the bike. absolute legends the lot of you.
