I have searched the forums already, just in case this has been covered before, with no success.

What are your views on the best Triumph tune for stock pipes and a cat delete on a standard R3?

Cheers

Pete

No Tuneboy......I have found a fair few threads and details on what to load with one of those!!

There seems to be a couple of schools of thought re the load I need.....either the standard, with the usual limitations on the secondaries or the full cat delete and TOR tune (which I have heard hold the secondaries closed in a wider range than standard.....though I am not too sure of the truth in that statement). In my view, I either end up slightly lean (standard) or slightly rich (Cat delete +TOR). As I understand it, Triumph UK only have the 2 tunes......

You are better off with the cat delete/tor tune from Triumph... Much more power... It will still have power restrictions... Those can only be removed by Tuneboy...

Mike...

As far as holding the secondaries "closed" goes,
just pull them out eliminating that problem.

Myself, I have no tuneboy, just a PC3,
but do have the secondaries out and K&N's on,
with a cat bypass and stock pipes.
I figure just run the stock TOR with the bypass tune,
and richen it up with the PC3.
Any thoughts or ideas guys???

Great answers.....thanks.

Guess that I'll go for the Triumph tune for the moment, and look to a Tuneboy at a later stage, especially if I wish to play with getting more performance (which, to be honest, was not the idea of buying the R3 in the first place - having owned a 160 bhp Blackbird and a string of sportsbikes, the Rocket was my 'slowing down into late middle age' bike)

Bad choice Pete. You are now on the slippery slope to more power. I had the cat delete tune in for awhile (with stock pipes). I bought the Tuneboy and have been much happier with more useable tunes. When I went to the TORs, I plugged in the Tuneboy and viola, more power. It's addictive. The Tuneboy can set the secondaries to full open all gears. The only place they are closed is at idle. After 6% throttle open, they come full open. Ai Carumba!
